THE 2012 ELECTIONS

Abdoulaye Wade , tried to gain a third term by means not so much appreciated,by the Sengalese voters.2 terms is the maximum now and was changed while Wade was president, so he tried to hang on to power in this way and was justified by the court.
He tried to hang onto power also by ousting Youssou N,Dour as a candidate, so on  road towards the elections there were fierce uprisings.
Snegal, especially the youth, was ready for a shift, while Wade was not.
In the first round of elections Wade gained 35% of the votes , while Macky Sall, his "apprenti", as Wade used to call him, also Wade,s former prime minister gained 27%.
A second round was needed and something amazing happened, all the 12 other candidates of the first round ( only 2 in the second round) joined forces against Wade and
invited their voters to vote for Sall.Time for a change.
That happened in the second and decisive round of the elections Sall gained 66% and Wade 34%.
Wade took his loss and called Sall to congratulate him.The young ones celebrated, hoping for change, more education and work for them, which is much needed.
A lot more change is needed and it is a real challenge for Macky Sall.
Democracy won once more in Senegal.
